Top 9 Keto Diet Blogs and Websites

Thinking about doing the keto diet, but you don't know where to start?  I've rounded up the top keto diet blogs below.  They are in no particular order and are written by people I trust who have spent years testing and researching this high-fat, low-carb diet.  It's amazing how much information is right at our fingertips, isn't it?

The controversial keto diet is gaining popularity and I know why.  It completely debunks the FDA's food pyramid (literally flipping it upside down!) and while skeptics are citing outdated (and skewed) research from decades ago, anecdotal evidence is mounting: people are raving about their results.  It's hard to ignore the improvements patients have seen on the keto diet--it's been used to help with epilepsy, PCOS, diabetes, autism, brain injuries, and many more.  The research is mounting!

You may be chomping at the bit to get started with the keto diet, but it's important that you do your research and talk to your doctor before changing your diet in such a dramatic way.  Start with some of the websites listed below.

Thinking about starting the keto diet?  Start with these top 9 keto diet blogs and websites!  Get inspired and informed and get fat adapted!! Great resource :) | Getting Unschooled is a lifestyle blog about unschooling, healthy living, over 40 style, and more!  Thanks for pinning :)

Note: this keto diet blogs list is purely based on what I resonated with--not according to popularity or page views.  There are other bloggers out there doing great work in the low-carb/keto diet realm.  A google search may land you on another resource that resonates with you

But I think you'll like these keto blogs as much as I do:  Read on for some major keto diet inspiration!

Top Keto Diet Blogs

1.  Ketogasm blog

Looking for keto diet blogs?  Check out this list of the top 9 keto diet blogs and websites :)  image:

I love this blog so much.  Ketogasm has a beautiful layout, incredible recipes, and just an all-around positive and fun vibe (the name should have been a dead give away on that ;).   The trademarked tagline is "Keto for Badass Babes" and she is focused on making the science easy to digest (ha!) and the food easy and fun.

"At my heaviest, I weighed 251 pounds and felt terrible. Not even 30 and my body was failing me left and right: infertility, PCOS, pre-diabetes, depression, the whole nine yards. That hurts to type, but it’s even more painful to think of how easily I could have done nothing about it." --Tasha, Ketogasm

Keto cured her infertility from PCOS and she has two kids and has maintained her 90 pound weight loss..  She has a biology background and while she doesn't claim to be an expert, she shares what she's learning along the way.

Nervous about going it alone on the keto diet?  Tasha has a free keto course and offers meal plans so you don't have to think about what to cook.  (image:

2.  Healthful Pursuit

As I mentioned in my best keto diet cookbooks post, Leanne Vogel has somewhat of a cult following in the keto diet community.  With good reason.  She is a certified nutritionist and has been living the keto lifestyle for four years after she transformed her body and became a fat burner!

"I found keto during my personal struggles with health and weight loss. It transformed my life ending my 8-year struggle with amenorrhea (missing period), hypothyroidism, adrenal dysfunction and ultra-low hormones." --Leanne Vogel

She has a ton of great information on her youtube channel.  Personally, I like to read vs watch a video, so I like that she offers transcripts of her videos.   And she has a top-ranked podcast, The Keto Diet Podcast.

I highly recommend perusing her various topics on the keto diet on her channel before you start.

3.  Mark's Daily Apple

Mark Sisson continues to be on the cutting edge of health and wellness.  His articles on the keto diet are no exception.  I trust Mark to bring me the most current scientific based theories and research to support the low-carb/ketogenic lifestyle.  A quick search of 'keto' on Mark's Daily Apple is a great starting point if you're curious about the keto diet.

4. Dr. Mercola

Dr. Mercola is an alternate medicine osteopathic physician who writes about controversial topics such as removing fluoride from our drinking water and the benefits of a high-fat, low-carb diet/lifestyle (AKA: the keto diet).  He's less flashy than some on this list, but I know I can search topics on his site and get good information.

He definitely does not trust the government to educate us on the best way to lead a healthy and long life, and I think he has this skepticism for good reason.  Other people must agree because he is consistently one of the top 10 health websites on the internet.

I've been following him for years and trust him completely.

He has a great beginners guide to the keto diet where most people should start if they are new to the high-fat concept.

5.  The Keto Dash

I stumbled across this website/coaching program while doing my keto diet research.  I absolutely love the way this husband and wife team write and present what could be complicated science into digestible chunks that just make sense.

The post the Keto Dash landing page is long, but it breaks down the keto diet in such a simple and straightforward way, I HIGHLY recommend reading this before you start the keto diet.

They have so much free information on the keto diet and if you want additional support, they offer a 28-day online course/coaching.   I purchased their 28-day keto challenge and love the support it provides--plus, Elisa runs a very active Facebook group that you can join with the program.

If you like community when you are going out of your comfort zone, check out their program!

6.  Peace, Love, and Low-Carb

After struggling to maintain a healthy low-carb lifestyle (losing 50lbs eating low-carb only to gain it back and more), Kyndra, from Peace, Love, and Low-Carb had an epiphany that she didn't just have to eat a bunless burger with a side of romaine doused in ranch dressing every day.

"I set out on a mission to recreate all my favorite carb-laden, comfort foods into low carb versions. I started with mac and cheese, pizza, chips… and it just spread like wildfire from there." --Kyndra Holley

A self described "foodie" and an alum of the restaurant industry, Kyndra loves everything about food.  Instead of seeing eating the keto diet as limiting, she now sees how freeing cooking low-carb and eating/enjoying food can change your entire keto experience.  (images: Peace, Love, and Low-Carb)

She is also on my list of best keto diet cookbooks and her Peace, Love, and Low-Carb Instagram feed is inspiring!

7.  I Breathe, I'm Hungry

I like food, I don't love food like some people.  I'm content with eating the same thing throughout the week and am not motivated to cook just to have something fresh and new in the rotation LOL  But Mellissa from I Breathe I'm Hungry was always starting and stopping a low-carb diet because she'd get bored.

In 2011 she started creating low-carb recipes for her blog and she fell in love with it for good.  She offers free keto meal plans and has written books and offers incredible recipes and fun to her over 150 million (and counting!) blog visitors.

"I’d done low carb with good results a few times in the past, but inevitably I’d quit after a few weeks because the food was boring, or it was too hard to eat differently from everyone else all the time." --Mellissa Sevigny

She is a low-carb recipe creating machine!  She loves comfort foods as much as the next person and you are guaranteed to find something that will inspire you to keep going on your keto diet journey!

ps: The I Breathe I'm Hungry Instagram account is filled with lots of keto food porn and photos from Belize--where she lives with her husband and son...the images are stunning!

8.  Keto Karma

Suzanne is the poster child of a successful keto dieter--after a lifetime of failed conventional diets, three years ago she finally lost 120 pounds living the keto lifestyle.

"When I first started keto I weighted 289 pounds, my energy level and self esteem were both at an all time low. I felt tired and sick a lot of the time, thankfully the ketogenic diet has turned my life around. After being ketogenic for one year I was able to naturally lose 100 lbs! I’m currently down 121 lbs, and I couldn’t be happier with this lifestyle!" --Suzanne Ryan

Her blog, Keto Karma, is lovely and filled with meals, treats, and snacks to keep things lively while you eat a keto diet.

Definitely follow along on her keto journey through her Keto Karma Instagram feed---she posts some of her before and afters that will get you inspired!!

If you're feeling overwhelmed about setting up your macros to make sure you enter ketosis, she has a handy keto calculator on her site!  Eating a keto diet shouldn't be hard I love how she simplified this step.

9.  Keto Adapted

Another alum from my best keto diet cookbooks is Maria Emmerich from Keto Adapted.  She also was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 16 and handed a prescription.  She knew that was wrong when she took her dog to the vet for hair loss and the first question they asked was, what is the dog eating?  Years later she's an international best seller and she helps thousands of people reach their health goals every year.

"Eating keto isn’t a diet for me. It is a lifestyle. I love food and I will always love food, but more so, I love the way I feel eating like this!"   --Maria Emmerich

Her blog is full of recipes, videos, and incredible information on how to become a fat burner on the keto diet.
