I met Jen at a Mala bracelet making class at artSpark in Littleton. She was teaching parents and their kids how to make bracelets. It was quite the experience and since I've determined that I'm part-hippie, this was right up my alley!
We hit it off and decided to book a candid family photography session together.
We had to reschedule their family photo shoot TWICE because of sick kids (*shakes fist* damn you, germs!). The day we settled on was snowy, cold and dreary. But the vibe from her crew was amazing--beautiful energy and love. We had a blast!
It was my first time shooting a family with older kids--they ranged from 9 to early 20s! Admittedly I was a little out of my comfort zone, but finding connections and documenting life is the same in every family! The kids did homework and played while Jen and her daughter sang songs to her guitar playing. It was totally different than the home I grew up in!
We hung out at the house for a bit before meeting up with their dad at their family restaurant, Satchels on 6th! Since I'm still fairly new to the area, it's always nice to get the scoop on local, family-owned restaurants. Joe and I can't wait to give it a try :)
After that we moved on to Punch Bowl Social in Denver. Have you heard of it? It's this super cool hipster diner/bowling alley/bar. The atmosphere is very chill and cool and the food is outstanding! They must be regulars there because they were right at home bowling, eating and hanging out!
LOVE this family--so much cooler than me. It was a blast hanging out with them!
